“Distopia” is the EP that seals the alliance between Sardinian rapper and illustrator MC DEF and the underground label Karati Records. True to his grotesque and delirious imagination, MC DEF uses this project to turn a distorted vision of reality into sound: a place where social decay, inner conflict and lucid madness coexist on the same frequency.
The EP stands at the crossroads between classic rap, drum’n’bass energy, and an attitude inherited from punk and crossover. The production by Karati Records combines raw drums, tense basslines and cinematic atmospheres, leaving space for MC DEF’s voice to shift from sharp storytelling to almost surreal imagery. His delivery moves between anger, irony and disillusion, as if every track were a different fragment of the same broken city.
With “Distopia”, MC DEF does not try to sweeten reality or chase trends. Instead, he embraces the underground DNA that has shaped his journey through raves, occupied spaces and DIY culture, and condenses it into a compact, direct and uncompromising work. The result is an EP that sounds like a manifesto: a warning, a snapshot of a collapsing world, and at the same time a declaration of artistic independence.
